IRD temporary shutdown – Labour Weekend 2024

Posted on 22 October 2024 / Business

IRD are updating their systems over Labour Weekend. From 5pm Friday 25 October through to 8am Tuesday 29 October 2024, IRD online and phones services will not be available.

What this means for you:

  • You can file early any returns that are due on or over the temporary closure. This shutdown period includes the regular 28 October GST filing and payment due date. Because 28 October falls on a public holiday, this due date is automatically moved to the next business day, 29 October.
  • Working for Families and Child Support payments will be paid on the usual days. The payment dates remain Tuesday 29 or Wednesday 30 October.
  • As part of the update, IRD will not delete saved drafts in myIR. Any saved drafts will be available as normal after the shutdown.

As always if you have any questions please contact our office.
